Day 1 – Samburu Game Reserve
Morning pick up from the hotel and drive north out of Nairobi, past business complexes and into the open country where you will pass coffee and pineapple plantations. Pass Thika (one time home of Elspeth Huxley, author of the “Flame Trees of Thika” onto rolling country. Turn right just before getting to Nyeri, to drive past Mount Kenya, stopping at the
Equator for refreshment and to learn the magical propensities of the line that runs round our planet. Then drive on, dropping down the side of the mountain, to reach Isiolo, the provincial centre of Eastern Province. From here to the gates of the Samburu Game Reserve. Arrive at the lodge in time for lunch.
Samburu and Buffalo Springs are the home of the unique northern species of animals; the shy gerenuk, Beisa Oryx, reticulated giraffe, Somali Blue-necked Ostrich and Grevy’ s Zebra as well as huge herds of elephant and buffalo, which drink at the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River which runs through the reserves. There are lion and cheetah regularly seen on baits which are floodlit by the lodge. After lunch, a game drive in the reserve and return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at Samburu Intrepids Camp FB
Day 2 – Samburu Game Reserve
An early morning game drive along the river, returning to the lodge in time for breakfast. Lounge in the pool or watch the birds. Later in the afternoon take another game drive. The colours of the mountain are beautiful as the sun sets, and you return to the lodge in time for dinner and overnight at the Samburu Intrepids Camp FB
Day 3 – Aberdare National Park
Leaving after breakfast, return past Mount Kenya to Nyeri and drive to the Aberdare National Park arriving in time for lunch at the Aberdare Country Club/ Outspan Hotel. Thereafter transfer to the tree hotel with an overnight bag while the rest of your luggage is stored at the base hotel. Animals that come to drink at the floodlit waterhole are viewed from the comfort of the hotel balcony. Dinner and overnight at The Ark/ Treetops FB
Day 4 – Lake Naivasha
After breakfast. Depart on a scenic drive along the rim of the Great Rift Valley and turn right to climb up the Western Escarpment to arrive at the Great Rift Valley Lodge in time for lunch. The afternoon is at leisure or you may go on an escorted bird walk. Dinner and overnight at the Great Rift Valley Lodge FB
Day 5 – Masai Mara
After an early breakfast, drive along the Rift Valley floor and arriving in Narok. Drive across the Loita Plains, arriving at your camp in time for lunch. Later in the afternoon, go on a game drive. Return for dinner and overnight at the Siana Intrepids Camp FB
Day 6 - Masai Mara
Morning and afternoon game drives. All meals and overnight at the Siana Intrepids Camp FB
Day 7 – Departure
After breakfast check out of your hotel and depart for Nairobi, arriving in the early afternoon. Transfer to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Animal World Safaris will assist to reconfirm your return flight and at the check-in formalities.
